New Shoots

Lots of our projects have been continuing on site despite the adversity of this last year and we thought we would show some photographs of work currently in development and nearing completion. Out of a long and bitter winter we are beginning to feel the warmth and welcome the new shoots of spring here in Edinburgh, and the connections to landscape and sunlight which have long been imagined begin to reveal themselves with the turning season.

The Marlings granted planning permission

We are delighted to have recently been granted planning for an extensive refurbishment of The Marlings in Blebocraigs, Fife. Having been remodelled and added to over it’s lifetime, the current layout is cellular and circulation through the house is somewhat broken and unclear. The proposal involves the addition of ‘living’ and ’service’ extensions and careful reconfiguration of the internal layout to make a coherent whole. This makes the best of the fantastic southerly aspect and view.

Season's Greetings

Helen Lucas Architects would like to extend warm wishes to all our clients and collaborators for the festive period, and a happy new year to come.

This year, instead of distributing Christmas cards we have decided to make a charity donation to Crisis. 2020 has been challenging for everyone, but homeless people have been some of the hardest hit in society. Crisis provides education, training and support for homeless people, empowering them to leave homelessness and rebuild their lives.

Christina selected in AJ '40 under 40'

Helen Lucas Architects is proud and delighted that Christina Gaiger has been announced as one of Architects' Journal’s ’40 under 40’ - a long-running recognition of architecture’s brightest up-and-coming talent.

Arisaig Planning Granted

We are pleased to announce that our project for a new house near Arisaig has been granted planning permission. Commanding fantastic views over Loch Nan Ceall, the proposal is for a new build house featuring a Douglas-fir frame and constructed sustainably using breathable wood-fibre insulation.
