Entrance Hall South Edinburgh

Living Spaces

The brief for this extension was to replace a delapidated 1950s tiny concrete storm door extension on a grade B listed Building with a generous porch to receive guests and to open up the original cramped front door.

This called for a small but finely crafted porch, contemporary in feel to compliment the traditional stone detailing of the original house and to relate to a modern car port.

The sioo treated thermo-pine cladding and anthracite zinc offer a long lasting finely detailed solution which is flooded with natural light and frames the view of the garden entrance path from the main hall of the house. A modern form of storm door continues to offer the clients to close down the house from the open glazed porch when privacy is needed.
