Inverleith Terrace

Living Spaces

The original house had been untouched for decades and required entirely upgrading. A new third floor was added to the attic spaces with the historic stair being extended up to exactly match the existing. A large cupola has been inserted into the new roof to light the original ground and first floor halls.

The existing historic rear scullery and maids room were opened up and extended to provide a naturally lit kitchen, boot room, cloakroom and garage, with guest accommodation and office over a new garage.

A new balcony now takes full advantage of the south facing views to the old town and Edinburgh castle.

Helen Lucas Architects managed to turn a dark labyrinth of Victorian corridors and rooms into a light spacious family home that is wonderful to live in without losing the integrity of its Victorian heritage. They did a great job and we would be happy to recommend them.
